Taking A Breath

Phew!

It’s been a busy few weeks since I decided to start the Sinatra Cookbook project. I’ve set up this blog, styled it and added some content to get the ball rolling. The feedback has been great and I’ve enjoyed reading the comments on the blog and tweeted messages. Thank you to everybody who has been in touch.

I’ve had some really nice comments about the CSS styles. I tried to go for a simple look, but also tried to use some of the latest CSS3 effects (such as the rotations on the logo). I might write a bit about them in a future post.

The last four posts mean that somebody could go from knowing nothing about Sinatra to a fully deployed app on Heroku. Sorry if this has been a bit basic for some of you out there, but I wanted a place where beginners could go to start from scratch (too many tutorials always assume people are coming to Sinatra from a Rails background). Hopefully things will speed up as the year progresses, so I hope you’ll all stick around for the ride.

In my next post I’m going to highlight some useful Sinatra resources such as reference material and videos. Then it’s on to the next project - A To Do list app that uses Datamapper and RESTful urls.

I’m also looking for some people to write a few guest ‘snacks’ in the future, so if you have a little example or handy tip about Sinatra that you’d be willing to share then get in touch.

Please keep telling people about this site - tweet it and spread some link love.

Cheers,

DAZ
